It was considered a landmark for Civil War soldiers…that’s how it got the name of “Landmark Tree”. Eventually the street we are located on was named Landmark Road. The tree had been deteriorating and we had taken several measures to preserve it, however, it just could not withstand last night’s storm. As you might imagine, we are all saddened by the loss of this majestic part of history.
